Sobre Afganistán:

Two billion Afghanis, collected from 36 private security companies in fines, had been transferred to the national exchequer, the interior minister informed lawmakers on Tuesday. The Meshrano Jirga had summoned Gen. Bismillah Mohammadi to answer questions from senators about the security situation in the country.
Mohammadi told the Senate all security firms would halt their operations at the end of the year and that the companies would be brought under police control. He dismissed apprehensions of some lawmakers that the security firms belonging high-ranking government officials were not going to be disbanded.

All security companies were being dissolved in compliance with President Hamid Karzai's directives, the minister insisted. A commission, having representatives from interior, defense and foreign ministries and the intelligence service, has been working on dissolving the firms without any discrimination.

A number of firms belonging to government officials had already been disbanded, Mohammadi explained.
Currently, 46 private firms are operational to meet security needs of Afghan and foreign officials. Another 36 firms which failed to pay taxes were fined two billion Afghanis. http://outlookafghanistan.net/news?post_id=1513

Desde hace un tiempo vengo observando la aparicion de foreros de aquí en CPW Forum.
Y no soy el único de aquí que se ha dado cuenta
Unos cuantos han inflado una barbaridad los CVs. Todo el mundo los adorna, pero es que algunos se pasan.
No os aconsejo que hagáis eso. Os pillan seguro cuando chequeen el historial y se os cerrarán puertas para siempre. Entraréis en la lista negra de la compañía, y estas listas suelen rular entre distintas empresas.

La gente de allí no es tonta. Si pones que has sido reservista en el Regimiento de Pistolos Aeroanfibios 16 (por ejemplo) y que has hecho misiones en Iraq o Afganistan con la OTAN, la ONU el FBI y GI JOE pues... Como que no te van a tomar en serio
Por cierto, a los anglosajones les suele importar un pito cuantas maniobras has hecho, les importan los "tours oficiales". Lo otro se le supone a todo hijo de vecino que se alista.

Otro consejo, si no controláis bien el inglés cuidado con usar traductores on-line ya que os lo traducirá literalmente y no en "inglés técnico". Por lo que nos podemos encontrar perlas del tipo:
Trabajo de escort, o tengo el curso de hunter parachute , o Spanish Land Army, etc...

Esto son solo un par de consejos, así que lentejas...

Haciendo uso de las lentejas del Sr. Blackjack y sin estar muy seguro si pregunto en el foro adecuado ¿Podría alguien orientarme acerca de CPW Forum? Estoy muy verde en estos temas y trato de abrirme camino por esta senda nueva del que es mi oficio. Cuando me refiero a orientación quiero decir de si el sitio es realmente de fiar y demás relacionado.

La verdad es que no pensaba mandarles el currículum. Si bien tengo pasado militar, por otro lado, mi experiencia en el sector privado es bastante escasa. En cuanto al inglés, bueno, me defiendo bien aunque soy consciente de que he de mejorar bastante.

Después de que vuelva de mi próximo trabajo tengo intención de ir a visitar Hereford.

Triple Canopy to Present International Code of Conduct at ASIS 2011

RESTON, Va. (September 14, 2011)—Triple Canopy, Inc., a global provider of security and mission support services, announced today that Mark DeWitt, vice president of government and regulatory affairs, will speak at this year’s ASIS International 57th Annual Seminar and Exhibits, scheduled for Sept. 19 to 22 at the Orlando County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

DeWitt will present a session on what the International Code of Conduct (ICoC) for Private Security Contractors signifies for security directors worldwide, along with the related management system standard underdevelopment by ASIS. Established in November 2010, the ICoC aims to set global standards for the private security industry and establish independent mechanisms for effective governance and oversight.

“We need to educate our clients on the strengths and benefits of the ICoC and what it can do and will do to improve the quality of service that private security companies provide,” DeWitt said. “Security directors, managers and others with a stake in securing their organizations should look to the ICoC and the ASIS-developed management standard as a new benchmark for quality.”

In his presentation, DeWitt will discuss how the ICoC and the ASIS-developed management standard will translate into greater confidence in the industry as a whole. “The Code allows security providers to deliver their services in a more transparent manner, and as a result, will help instill trust and create a better understanding of the way in which security services are provided,” explained DeWitt.

A founder signatory of the Code, Triple Canopy has focused on ways to improve the quality of service the security industry provides since the company was founded in 2003. The company also participated in efforts to establish an international code of conduct following the signing of the Montreux Document in 2006. According to DeWitt, who currently sits on the ICoC Temporary Steering Committee, “The ICoC has become an essential tool in our ongoing efforts to create a better and more transparent set of industry standards.”

DeWitt’s session, entitled “ASIS Standards: The International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers: A New Benchmark for Quality,” is scheduled for Sept. 20 at 4:30 p.m. in Room W307A of the Convention Center. The session will be moderated by Dr. Marc Siegel, commissioner of the ASIS International Global Standards Initiative.

Switzerland wants to banish mercenary firms and tighten the rules for private security companies based in the country in a bid to safeguard its tradition of neutrality, the government said Wednesday.
A draft bill submitted to parliament would ban Swiss-based companies from direct participation in armed conflicts abroad, and from recruiting or training mercenaries in Switzerland.
The proposal, which lawmakers have until the end of January to consider, also requires private security companies to report their activities to Swiss authorities, and to abide by an international code of conduct.

Suiza quiere desterrar a empresas de mercenarios y endurecer las normas para las empresas de seguridad privada con sede en el país en un intento por salvaguardar su tradición de neutralidad, el gobierno dijo el miércoles.
Un proyecto de ley presentado al Parlamento prohibiría sede en Suiza, las compañías de la participación directa en los conflictos armados en el extranjero, y de reclutamiento de mercenarios o de formación en Suiza.
La propuesta, que los legisladores tienen hasta finales de enero para considerar, también obliga a las empresas de seguridad privada para informar de sus actividades a las autoridades suizas, y cumplir con un código de conducta internacional.

Defence cuts mean British military commanders will have to rely on private security firms to carry out future operations, a retired general has said.

Major General Graham Binns said the UK's Ministry of Defence appeared more "reticent" about using armed contractors to support missions than other countries and other Whitehall departments.

He called on the Government to introduce a system for selecting and vetting a number of approved private security companies, which would be required to train regularly with troops.

Maj Gen Binns, who commanded coalition forces in southern Iraq from mid-2007 to early 2008, is chief executive of British private security company Aegis Defence Services.

Writing in a book of essays published by the Army about how it should adapt for the future, he suggested that private security contractors (PSCs) would become an integral part of the forces deployed on operations.

"Given the current economic climate and future force structures, it is likely that commanders of future military operations of whatever type will encounter PSCs," he said.

"Given the current size and structure of UK forces, it is inevitable that any future expeditionary deployment will require contractor support in many areas. PSCs may well come to feature as part of the force structure as there are many combat-support functions that can be fulfilled by PSCs, thus releasing troops for other duties."

The former general's comments come as the MoD is implementing a programme which could see 11,000 redundancies across the Royal Navy, Army and RAF by April 2015 in an effort to tackle the deficit and bring the defence budget under control.

Maj Gen Binns said British security firms had provided services for the US Army in Iraq and Afghanistan ranging from gathering local intelligence to guarding senior officers.

But the retired general also warned that private security firms not working directly with the military could be "more problematic", noting that they could include "rogue" companies hiding behind the veil of a legitimate contractor or "thinly disguised local militias".
