En un comunicado difundido en Internet, el portavoz de los talibán, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi afirmó que Wail Karzai fue asesinado por uno de sus combatientes.
Londres.- La resistencia Talibán se responsabilizó de la muerte de Ahmed Wali Karzai, medio hermano del presidente de Afganistán, Hamid Karzai, asesinado esta mañana a tiros por uno de sus guardaespaldas.
En un comunicado difundido en Internet, el portavoz de los talibán, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi afirmó que Wail Karzai fue asesinado por uno de sus combatientes que fue instruido para matarlo y se infiltró entre sus guardarespaldas.

HERAT, Afghanistan, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Fourteen people including seven security forces and seven insurgents have been killed during an operation launched Friday in Bala Buluk district, Farah province 695 km west of capital city Kabul, deputy to provincial police chief Mohammad Ghous Malyar said Saturday.
"The operation with the involvement of army and police launched in Shiwan village of Bala Buluk district on Friday and so far seven Taliban rebels, six Afghan soldiers and one Afghan police have been killed," Malyar told Xinhua.
Twelve Taliban insurgents and two policemen have been wounded in the battle, he added.
The operation is still underway and would continue until the area is cleaned up of insurgents, the official further said.
Afghan Defense Ministry spokesman Zahir Azimi, according to media reports, also confirmed that the gunbattle in Bala Buluk district, Farah province on Friday left six Afghan soldiers dead and wounded 10 others.

FARAH (PAN): Sixteen of 30 civilians, who were kidnapped a week back by the Taliban in the Gulistan district of western Farah province, have been freed, an official said on Sunday.
Efforts by the Farah governor and tribal elders led to the release of the individuals seized in the Toot area, Maj. Mohammad Ghaus Malyar, the deputy police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The insurgents had so far killed two of the captives, Malyar said, indicating that the remaining men would be freed today.
Earlier, the rebels had claimed kidnapping 35 local policemen in Toot and Mughul Abad areas. But the police chief said the victims were civilians.
On July 6, 32 workers of the Demining Agency for Afghanistan were kidnapped in Bala Baluk district. Twenty-eight of them were set free later on, while four were killed by their captors.

In Shindand district, Herat province, today, a coalition patrol discovered a weapons cache consisting of 12 40mm grenades and 80 fuses. The patrol seized and destroyed the munitions.
